WATCH THE ANNOUNCEMENTS: The Open begins on Thursday, February 22th. That evening at 8PM ET (and each Thursday evening at 8PM ET for the next 4 weeks), tune into the live Open Announcement show at http://games.crossfit.com when CrossFit headquarters (HQ) will release the first Open workout, 18.1 (short for the 1st WOD of the 2018 Open), and moments later top Games athletes will go head-to-head to add a little excitement to the announcement and to show you what the WOD has in store for you. Many of our members have had “Open parties” where they gather around the TV to watch the announcements and chat WOD strategy for the next day.
WHEN TO WOD: We will program each week’s Open WOD on Friday, although you have until the following Monday at 8pm ET to complete the WOD and officially submit your score. So if you can’t get in on that Friday, you can come to Sunday’s Open Gym to complete your workout and get an official score. And if you don’t register, that’s cool too… you’ll just do the WOD with any of the Friday classes.
There is no limit to the number of times you can do the WOD, it just has to be officially judged at any CrossFit affiliate or you have to submit a video. Unless you have a realistic chance at making the Regionals round, we DO NOT recommend doing the WODs more than once.
The WOD schedule for the Open workouts is outlined below:
18.1- Feb. 22-26 (Daybreak programs the Open workout as the Daily WOD on Friday, February 23)
18.2- March 1-5 (Daybreak = Friday, March 2)
18.3- March 8-12 (Daybreak = Friday, March 9)
18.4- March 15-19 (Daybreak = Friday, March 16)
18.5- March 22-26 (Daybreak = Friday, March 23)
A scaled, a masters and a teen version of the Open workout will also be released along side the RX version each week of the Open. With reduced loading and/or less complex movements, these workouts are designed to make the Open accessible to ALL our members. No matter what division you enter, you can do the WOD with the class!
SUBMIT YOUR SCORE: All scores must be submitted by YOU by 8:00pm ET on the Monday following the announcement. Go to https://games.crossfit.com/competition and log into your account to submit your score. We can help you post after the WOD right from the check-in kiosk.
GET YOUR RANK: Daybreak will be notified of your score submission, at which time we will validate your score and it will be posted immediately to the WORLDWIDE LEADERBOARD. There’s also our DAYBREAK LEADERBOARD if you want to razz your workout buddies.
HAVE FUN COMPETING: Keep in mind there are no prizes, no champions, no last places. We are in this together as a community, and we’ll be encouraging each other to #pursuebetter throughout these 5 weeks no matter the age, ability or tenure of our members!
