DAYBREAKERS of the MONTH: Megha + Dusty

There are two apparent reasons to Megha and Dusty’s success. One, they show up. Yes, they come to class four to five times per week. Second, when they’re in class they work their butts off! Both athletes are constantly up for a challenge and are willing to step outside their comfort zone on a regular basis.

Megha and Dusty’s drive to pursue their better has resulted in a multitude of firsts. Megha recently got her first handstand, rope climb, graduated to the 35 pound bar and went from the green to the red band for pull ups. Dusty set a personal record for “Grace”, clean and jerk, snatch, did his first muscle up and is a gazelle when it comes to running, rowing and biking.

DAYBREAKER of the MONTH: Sarah L and Ray

Sarah L and Ray both joined Daybreak in December and have forces at the night classes. Their good spirits and solid work ethic are certainly contagious to all around them.

Sarah isn’t a stranger to weightlifting. In high school Sarah was a power lifter and could deadlift 600 pounds! Sarah consistently attends Barbell Club has pr’d her clean and jerk and continuously makes technique gains on her snatch. What’s more impressive is along with her strength and technique gains, Sarah has also made significant improvements on her bodyweight movements. She’s moved from green to a blue banded pull ups, and went from not being able to do a handstand to now doing handstand push ups to 2 abmats.

In January, Ray participated in our nutrition challenge and lost more than ten pounds. He’s maintained his nutrition regime and can now do consecutive pull ups, chest to bar pull ups and handstand push […]

DAYBREAKERS of the MONTH: Jen B + Chris N

Jen and Newt are the definition of hard work. Both athletes are at Daybreak 4 to 5 times a week, are always pushing outside their comfort zones which motivates everyone around them.

This year, Jen had carpal tunnel surgery. Post surgery, Jen didn’t let her fitness take a back burner. With the help of her coaches, Jen was able to modify workouts and maintain her fitness level. Now, Jen is not only pain free but stronger than ever. Recently Jen back squatted 105# for sets of 8, did 65# thrusters and cleaned 95# in “Holleyman”.

Newt changed his nutrition during our last challenge and hasn’t looked back since. Focusing on meats and vegetables plus a few high glycemic carbohydrates for energy, Newt has lost over fifteen pounds. Despite all the weight loss, Newt has maintained his strength and now his aeroboic capacity has improved.

About Jen

Have lived in Sudbury for 16 years.  Married to the “Mayor of Daybreak – Jim B”.  Two teenagers – […]

DAYBREAKERS of the MONTH: Brett B + Scott C

There’s no secret sauce to Brett and Scott’s (aka Cornish) accomplishments. Both athletes work incredibly hard for their fitness gains. Their diligence and accomplishments are inspiring!

Brett since day one of CrossFit has asked how to better her weaknesses. She’ll pick one or two to work on, ask for guidance on how to work on them, and then gets after it! To get her handstand, Brett asked after almost every class for a coach to spot her until one day she had the confidence to do it herself. Now Brett is working on handstand push ups. This is exactly how she achieved kipping pull ups, rope climbs, heavier wall ball shots and a better nutrition regime. She asked for guidance from her coaches, she did exactly what was recommended and Brett is accomplishing her goals!

Scott took a hiatus from CrossFit after chronic back issues wouldn’t allow him to perform at the level […]
