What got you started with CrossFit?
I was sick of going to the gym and the price of Pilates got out of control. After a lot of searching on the internet I found Daybreak and never looked back.
Tell us a little bit about your first class. What was your first WOD?
I can’t remember the exact WOD but I remember it had pull-ups and wall balls. It totally kicked my ass.
What is your favorite and least favorite CrossFit movement?
My favorite movement is the Deadlift, but lately I have been liking handstand holds! My least favorite is the squat snatch. It is such a challenging movement.
What is your proudest CrossFit accomplishment in the box?
Lasting 5 months and coming 3 days a week!
What has been the impact of CrossFit on your life outside the box?
I feel stronger both physically and mentally! Just the other day a woman passed out in front of me and reacted instantly by running over and helping her. I just felt strong and ready to help! There are just so many ways Crossfit has impacted me. I really enjoy donating clothes that are now too big for me!
Give us one fun fact about yourself. (Something not everyone knows)
I have a scar from a chainsaw accident.
What’s your favorite WOD music?
I don’t really pay attention to the music during WODs but I grew up listening to Ella Fitzgerald and Dizzy Gillespie.
What keeps you motivated to come back for more, no matter how tough the WOD?
I love the community at Daybreak, but I also love all of the amazing results I have seen over the past 5 months!
What advice would you give someone new to Daybreak?
It’s not about competition with others. It is more about long term personal growth! It is very important to focus on yourself and focus on your own goals.
