We’ve changed up the format of the Daybreak Buzz to make it easier to communicate the latest in our DCF community.

SUNDAY OPEN GYM

Daybreak announces OPEN GYM on Sunday (10:00a-1:00p) for five weeks during the CrossFit Open, starting March 3rd and ending March 30th. This is your opportunity to do the Open WOD, work on skills, or just hang around and soak in the awesomeness that’s happening at Daybreak. There won’t be any formal classes, but a coach will be on hand to help you craft a WOD and scale/modify it as needed.

WHEN: 11:00a-12:00p on SAT, MARCH 15th (after our intro class)
WHERE: Daybreak CrossFit

FESTIVUS COMPETITORS TRAINING

If you’re competing in the Festivus Competition at CrossFit Relentless next month, we will meet 11a-12p this SAT, MARCH 8th. We know any competition can be a bit daunting, especially if it’s your first one. And Daybreak is proud that several of you have thrown your hat in the ring. At this session, we will discuss strategy for each workout, how you should train for the competition and some tips and tricks for coping with the stress on the big day. We’ve even crafted a little “cheat sheet” that we’ll hand out to you at this session as well.

DAYBREAK’S DEDICATED: FEBRUARY WINNERS!

Congratulations to 3-peat winner BILL B and first-timer CHRIS W! Both winners got their WOD-on 27 times last month. That’s a whole-lotta-fitness! Just a couple visits out was Jess with an impressive 25. All three athletes have made huge gains in the last month. Their dedication and hard work are to thank!  Here’s who rounded out the top 10: Julie O 19, Sara B 19, Zev N 19, Sherry C 17, Scott W 17, Eddie F 17, Brian C 16

THE BOSTON MARATHON

Daybreakers SCOTT WOLF and JIM BLEAKLEY are both raising money for charity by running in the Boston Marathon. Should you wish to help with their fund-raising efforts you  can contribute at the following links where Jim will be running for the Ally Foundation and Scott will be running for Dana Farber.

KIDS AREA/LOUNGE CLEAN-UP

We designed and equipped the lounge area as a safe and fun place for our kids to hang out while we workout. They have toys, movies, games, WiFi and each other to keep themselves entertained in a fairly confined environment. If you’ve let your child play there while you worked out, please take a few minutes before leaving to help your child pick up the toys, throw out their trash and/or wipe up any spills they may have left in the area. We just ask that you return the lounge to the condition in which you found it. We appreciate your cooperation.

PUNCH CARD EXPIRATIONS

Just a reminder to holders of punch-cards that they are valid for 3 months from date of purchase. This equates to approximately one visit per week, so this accommodates our weekend warriors and other members who can’t get in as often as they’d like. For those who have previously purchased punch cards, we will apply an additional one month grace period.

CROSSFIT FREE MASTERS COMPETITION

On SAT, MAY 3rd, we will have several athletes (and a coach) heading to CrossFit Free, up in Salem, NH, for a Masters Competition (athletes aged 40 and up). Details can be found HERE or talk with a coach if you’re interested.

PULL-UP BARS FOR SALE

So you want to keep practicing those kipping pull-ups you learned in the clinic? What better way than to practice at home! Daybreak has two compact, wall-mounted pull-up bar systems that are new in their original packaging. These are Rogue P-4 pull-up systems that retail for $145+shipping… we’re selling them for $130. Details of the bars can be found HERE.

REMINDER: POST YOUR SCORES TO COMMENTS

We want to send out a friendly reminder to our members to post their scores to comments. This does several things for both you and us. For you, it allows you to track your progress towards your fitness goals. It gives us an objective measure of your fitness by being able to quickly look back at former workouts to compare weights, reps, time and performance. We use this as our digital log book of sorts. For us, we get to gauge how our members are feeling during/after WODs so we can make the necessary adjustments in our programming. To post comments, scroll to the bottom of the WOD post and click on the “Register to Comment” link. You’ll be sent a confirmation email that you validate and then you’re in! Let us know if you have any difficult registering on our website.
