#yourewelcome
10:29 (70# DB snatches / 20# wall balls) Couldn’t talk myself into the 30# WB….
14:15. 30# WB (20,10/10,10/10,10/10). 70# DB. This one surprised me and taught me some good lessons/reminders. Thought I’d note them for me in the future when I look back at this WOD, and for anyone else who runs into this:
1) Stay Positive: After first set of wall balls I literally thought to myself, “I’m toast”. This is a huge no-no. From that point on (which was a lot of time), I was in survival mode. Need to stay in each rep, in each segment, in each round. Break the WOD up manageable mental chunks. I know better… but I simply let my guard down.
2) Make every rep count: Five no-reps with the WB is a lot of wasted energy. Need to commit to every movement. Don’t just chuck the ball up and hope it hits. Bad strategy.
3) Keep accurate &@$%ing count of your reps: Oh, this kills me. I became so engulfed by my own personal suckfest that I lost count in each movement of the last round. I did an extra WB to make sure I didn’t short count and two extra snatches. No reason to be unsure of my count.
4) Don’t change the way I count mid-WOD: I started the snatches counting each arm by 1s up to 20. Then the smarty pants in me thought I could trick myself into thinking I’m doing fewer reps by counting both arms as 1 (i.e 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3… etc.) up to 10. By the 3rd and 4th round I was all over the board, which contributed my #3 lesson and a few extra reps. Again, bad strategy.
So… what’s the moral of the story you ask? Simple. I’m taking today as a HUGE VICTORY. Yes, victory. I needed a reset and now I’ve regained focus. Going to fire back up and knock the snot out of tomorrow’s WOD. #pursuingmybetter
This is awesome Rap… thanks buddy! And great victory today
glad I read this befoe I do this at 530. Congrats on your victory.
Don’t beat your self up!! We’ve all gone to that dark place…Sleep, clean eatting (breakfast ) and Mel’s love equals successful WOD!!
Your so right rap. Thank you!
HAHAHAHHAAHHAHAH…. I did the exact same thing on the snatches. started counting 1-1, 2-2, 3-3… those low numbers are pleasing to the brain…… and it worked!
great post dude.
9:00 modified WOD for sticky bicep 10#/10# med ball squats + 1600 m
12:17. 30# KB. 70# DB. All I have to say is ouch.
