Rap… the biggest difference for me has been abstaining from the beer or two that I usually had when relaxing at home after work. I have hardly drank at all since the beginning of this and i have noticed two big changes. performance is one, and a loss of bad weight the other. I have not lost weight on the scale, but I feel lighter. I’ve PRd my 3rm hpc, 3rm frontsquat, 1rm split jerk….
I’m looking forward to slaying jackie and my old clean & jerk PR at the end of this. I’m going to get 250#!
good luck to everybody the rest of the way. This zoning business is next to impossible. I think i’m single handedly buying the Brookline Trader Joe’s out of bags of spinach.
Sam – I agree 100% w/ zoning. I’ve talked to Mel about it and it’s difficult, but it’s also lack of effort on my part. We’re eating meals made up of proteins, carbs and fats, but I’m not 100% sure they are “balanced”.
I will say that I ate zone balanced yesterday and felt fantastic this morning. I think I’m going to put in a bit more effort for the remaining 2 weeks. Everyone is crushing it and I need to step it up a bit.
Up until this week, I was happy w/ my performance, but I think the two-a-days caught up to me last week. Hit it hard twice yesterday and still felt good today. Just need to be sure I push myself to rest at least 1 day. Sunday will definitely be rest this week.

Lost 10 pounds thus far. My problem has been not eating enough. The right balance of blocks is a pain in the ass except when my lovely wife hands me a plate so some days I don’t eat until 2pm (like today). I bet if I ate throughout the day I would have lost more.
Also, I have not been drinking at all except on Saturdays. I figure I am losing at least one pound per week just by abstaining based upon calores per drink times number of drinks per week.
My energy has sucked in the 6:30pm class and I am pretty sure that is because of not eating until late in the day / not eating enough.
However, my mind is very clear… far more than usual.
I saw Cory last night at the 6:30 and she may be winning the prize! Great job Cory! I am not getting on the scale until I have to so can’t comment on that, but my clothes are definitely fitting better
6:00 am – Fast and furious workout! 15:08.. Rocked the rope climb on #3 ready to climb to the top.. “Shaking Hands” So far is my favorite…
“Shaking Hands” – 15:49 w/ Legless Rope Climbs (2 attempts per round. 50% success. Didn’t reach the top on Round 1, got both successful on Round 2 and then got 1 of 2 on final round. Progress). All 500m rows were between 1:38 – 1:45. Definitely going to feel the weighted sit ups tomorrow.
“Shaking Hands” – 15:40 w/ 4 rope climbs (that’s the tall guy penalty). Came out hot on the first 500m row sub 1:30, sub 1:35 for #2, and then right around 1:40 for the 3rd. Weighted sit-ups get tough by the second and third rounds. Nice job Bill on the legless climbs.
Shaking: 17:37, 25#. Yowza weighted sit-ups.

should be 3 points today, I’m traveling but have everything measured and ready to go, will post an update if I crack at the airport.
Feeling awesome so far. have dropped 12 lbs since I started (couple weeks earlier than others) just feel all and all fantastic. On a cheat day I had pizza and actually got sick from it so I can see what that shit does to my body. WODs are definitely feeling much stronger and quicker for me too.

Oh… and congrats to Marina who battled through her fear of heights to get her first rope climb using the J-hook Mel taught us. She was visibly stirred during pre-WOD practice and only got a few feet off the ground. Then during the WOD, she got the courage to shimmy all the way to the rafters to get her first climb… she then proceeded to get all 6!!!
So cool to watch and so proud of her. Pursuing better she is. Make her ring the bell if you see her.

Getting easier day by day. Starting to be able to eyeball the food without measuring. Helps that I have someone to figure out our blocks together. Or helps Keith to have someone to carry his food scale with when we go out. Yes that did happen. Clothes are fitting better, a few lbs down :), performance feels better but we shall see with Jackie. Bring it on biatch. Lol.

Omg, I have been bringing my scale out to eat as well. My daughter is ready to die from the shame, which is funny because she is the only one who even seems to notice it.

Zone Challenge: Today, 2 Points. Overall, I’m losing weight again, which is OK, but not the desired result, necessarily. If I were going to stick with this thing after the month ends, I would have to add a few blocks, I suppose. However, I do better doing a 85%~ paleo thing, because it’s easy, and I’ve gotten pretty good at it. So I guess, see you soon bacon wrapped hamburger. That said, I think I may have inadvertently “sexted” my wife tonight by sending her progress pictures. Definitely burning off fat, and showing definition. I think we (you) should all consider ourselves lucky that we (i) can’t post pics to this blog. just sayin’.

1 well-earned point today. Holy moly, skiing powder is fun but a TOTAL quad-burner! One more ski day, a travel day, and then a few days to hit the zoning up before we end the challenge. Needless to say, I think I’ll continue with it for a few more weeks because this week has been a train wreck nutritionally. That bring says, I think I ate half my body weight in sautéed Brussel sprouts tonight. I think my body is craving veggies!
well if it makes you feel any better i have been craving rutabaga all week — who does that?!
