Meet Cheryl!
Cheryl is a staple at the 6:30am class. She’s consistent, works hard and has no excuses. In return for her dedication and diligence, Cheryl has seen tremendous improvement on her squat and clean technique. She runs like a gazelle and recently PR’d her 2k row 8:04.
Cheryl is leaving us this summer for a new job/adventure in Seattle. To say her energy, spunkiness and positive example will be missed, is an understatement. We wish you the best, Cheryl!
About Cheryl
Moved back to Maynard (my hometown!) in June 2016. Single mom to my mini-doodle Remi(ngton Steele) – though he bears no resemblance to Pierce Brosnan 😀 I started with Crossfit about 6 years ago at Trident in VA (which is where I heard about Mel and Daybreak when I moved back north) and have always been a 6am block person!
1. What keeps you coming back to CrossFit each day?
The results and the challenge – I can physically do things now that I couldn’t when I started – to say nothing of the coaching, support and friendships.
2. Tell us about your knew job in Seattle.
I’ll be heading up Programs and Strategy for Starbucks’ Global Security team — essentially working across teams that lead intelligence/risk sensing, trade compliance, physical security infrastructure, executive protection, business continuity and risk control to help us have a unified global approach/policy and better serve our Starbucks partners and customers.
3. What is the coolest perk of working for Starbucks HQ? (i.e. all the coffee you can drink)
Oh, a tough one — definitely being able to play with all the fancy machines, syrups and blends in our open kitchens is right up there, but/and also love being able to mobile order to the store a floor away!
4. What was the best thing you purged from your house before putting it on the market? (could be therapeutic or funny)
Gosh – tough to choose between the three extra coffee pots that were squirreled away or sorting through my collection of toy horses to farm them out to friends’ children!
5. What’s your spirit animal (an animal that represents you)?
I would love to say something dangerous and exotic, but the reality is likely a Labrador retriever — I’m always up for any adventure if involves going out for a walk or ride in the car, regardless of the destination!
Congratulations Cheryl! Good luck with your new adventure!
Congrats Cheryl! Will be sorry to see you go!
A great tribute to a great person! Cheryl I will really miss you and your funny quips. Come back and visit us please!
